Frequently Asked Questions

Is Everything We Discuss Confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of our politics. Your privacy is protected by law. Everything you share during therapy is confidential, with the exception of cases where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others or if required by law.

How Do I Know if I Need or Can Benefit From Therapy?

The therapy might be helpful if you are experiencing emotional distress, persistent anxiety, or depression or if your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors negatively impact your life. Therapy can help even if you are not in a crisis but intend to work on personal growth and relationships or to get clarity on certain issues.

Why Don’t I Just Deal With It on My Own?

Self-reliance is an important thing, but sometimes it can be too difficult to deal with trauma, stress, and emotional challenges alone. Working with a therapy specialist who provides a safe, non-judgmental space to develop effective strategies for healing and growth is always more effective.

What Should I Expect at My First Appointment With a Therapist?

You can expect your first appointment with a therapist to be an introductory session. By gathering information about your current concerns and personal history, the therapist will explore your goals for therapy and focus on understanding your needs. The first session is your chance to know if the therapist fits you.

Do You Work With Couples?

Yes, we work with couples. Our couples therapy is designed to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and sort out conflicts. Whether you have a long-term relationship or just starting, the therapy can be beneficial.

Do You Work With Adolescents and Families?

Yes, we work with adolescents and families. If members of your family have issues with family conflicts, emotional challenges, or school stress, therapy can be incredibly beneficial. We also provide family therapy to strengthen family relationships, improve communication, and sort out conflicts.

Are There Issues You Don’t Treat?

Trauma Therapy Center handles a wide range of issues, but if the needs of a client fall outside our scope of practice, we may refer clients to other specialists. We may not treat issues that require specialized care, such as severe substance use disorders, certain personality disorders, or other specific medical cases.

How Long Does It Take?

It depends on your specific case. Some clients experience significant improvement in a few months, some may require more time, and some may feel way better after several sessions.

Do You Prescribe Medications?

No, we do not prescribe medications. If we believe medication might help as part of your treatment plan, we can refer you to a psychiatrist or medical professional.

How Much Will My Appointment Cost?

The cost of the appointments depends on the kind of therapy you choose. We encourage you to consult us for details regarding fees and insurance coverage.

I Need to Cancel an Entry. What Are Your Rules for Canceling?

Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel an appointment. We understand that things happen, so let us know as soon as possible if there’s an emergency.
